Scavenger Hunt..or Hide and Seek??

Yay! I am going to my senior prom. Even though the whole idea of spending a whole day getting ready for just one night, and wearing a big poofy dress, and the lameness of every dance is well...just that, lame. It's still sort of fun to just be crazy and enjoy the lameness. I mean, I AM a girl, I had better enjoy getting dressed up every once in a while. So I got asked to prom. My room was totally and completely covered in streamers, and the smell of red roses wafted through the air. As lame as dances are, it's still going to be fun to go. Especially with my date because we are such great friends, I know we will have a blast together. Funny story though-where I learned I should never be a spy... I had to answer him back to the dance last night. So me and Jordan went and got all the stuff to make a little scavenger hunt for him and decorate his car, and trash his room. Can you say oh so fun!? haha, how can it not be fun to go trash someone's car, right? Trevor had a meeting so while he was in it we got into his car and the mess-making began. We were being all stealthy so that we didn't get caught while he was in his meeting, and then we went and finished the rest of the scavenger hunt for him at his house. Where his siblings would not quit eating ALL of the candy...:(. kids these days...tsk tsk.
Then after we finished, he was still in his meeting so we thought it would be fun to go see his face when he saw his car. So we parked about a block away and started sneaking over to hide somewhere close to the scene. I texted him to see when he would be out and found it would be just a matter of minutes. Unfortunately while we waited for him to come out, a series of events led me and Jordan to have to leave early and miss the action. So as we're walking back to my car, disappointed, Jordan looks over and asks if the guys she sees is Trevor. I look over and my jaw completely drops. IT IS! OH NO!!! HIDE! The only hiding place was a tiny ledge beside us, so as he glances over at the two of us, we drop flat to the ground, shaking with laughter. Such wonderful spies. As we're laying there on the pavement, I looked over and saw some lady sitting in a car in the closest parking spot available looking very... confused.haha, I couldn't help but giggle. It was just too hilarious. So I think maybe my loud laugh might have helped give us away, that and our instant dropping to the ground upon seeing Trevor. I decided to sneak a peek at him and see if he was still looking at us. Not only was he looking for us, he was walking towards our not very good hiding spot. After a quick whispered discussion (followed with more laughter), Jordan and I decided to make a run for it. As we got up, we hid behind the car, with a very bewildered lady still sitting inside. So as we started sprinting to make it to my far away car, Trevor starts chasing us! It was supposed to be a scavenger hunt, but it turned into a crazy game of hide and go seek. I don't think I've ever laughed so hard. I just feel bad for that poor woman in the car. What she must have thought seeing two girls running from some guy chasing them down across the street. I still wonder if she called the cops...we left too soon to find out. Lesson learned: Christina will never be a secret agent. But she does love a good game of hide and go seek.

Running..

Running...is my life...
I live...
eat...
breathe...
and dream of the
action...
the excitement...
the freedom...
the thrill of
RUNNING faster...
farther...
longer...
is like running
on the edge
of the HORIZON,
knowing
whatever is at the END
I WILL have given
EVERYTHING
I have.

Strive to be your best self.

Be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet. Make all your friends feel there is something special in them. Look at the sunny side of everything. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give everyone a smile. Spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others. Be too big for worry and too noble for anger.

Life's sunshine

Today I couldn't help but feel the sunshine in my soul. Driving around on a warm sunny day, windows down with the music turned up, I'm soaking up the sun. Sunshine is here and I just have to smile about it! I have been thinking a bit lately and I have come to a simple conclusion...life is good. Enjoying those little things, like going out for an ice cream cone with a good friend, or a 3 hour phone call just talking with my sister, are priceless. Trevor calling and waking me up this morning just to say good bye and wish me a good morning before he goes away for a week. Being proud of a hard accomplishment and knowing I did my best. Giving someone you love a hug. A conversation, a kind word, or even the smallest gesture can make a difference to someone. Life is so good when I think of all the great things I have. And more importantly, all of the great PEOPLE in my life who care about me and whom I care about very much. Friends and family and all the SMALL things in life that can seem so insignificant, can make all the difference. It's having the ability to look at those small little things, conversations, or events that keep happiness going; rather than letting the big problems in life consume and overcome. Even with all the big scary barriers in life, I can conquer it all if I find happiness in those little things. Like driving around with the wind in my hair on warm sunny day, singing to my steering wheel. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with everything in life, but if I just look around for a moment, I realize that life is actually pretty great and I have so many small and simple things to be grateful for. And though they are small or insignificant, I can let them make all the difference.

Night time thoughts

As I sit here in the quiet darkness, I feel the peace of the night. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there IS something different about the night. Whether it's the stillness of the world, or maybe it's just the feeling I get, it's a calm ish type of feeling. Like, at 3 in the morning it is my time to think about anything in the whole universe. Anything and everything. Or maybe, just nothing at all. To me, life's problems don't have to be solved at 3 in the morning when I am thinking about them. I can think about it all I want and it's somehow ok in a weird sort of way. I don't have to fix it at that moment. Also, it's a time when anything is possible. I can think up any idea and it will seem like a good one that I am capable of. Maybe that isn't the best time for me to be doing that, because who knows? Maybe someday I'll end up trying to fly off my roof or something!? But hey, in the night....it's ok. But really, to tell the truth, I think it may also have a small part to do with my subconscious. I think sometimes, in the day, I won't let myself think certain things. Like, I won't allow my mind to think of unhappy endings to certain situations. Or I won't dream up big possibilities. In the night though, it is possible. And in the night, it's also ok to see that unhappy situation or ending. Because, to be honest, I'm probably so tired and sleepy that I don't even care. So maybe it's a good thing sometimes, or maybe it's facing those fears of mine. But there, in the middle of night, I can tell myself the truth about anything. And so can you.The awful, wonderful, sad, or funny TRUTH. The thing I would like to see is more of that, in broad DAYLIGHT. Yes, it is still important to control thoughts. But it's a good thing to be able to say, I might just fail at this. Or perhaps, this is actually something I could be amazing at.Whatever it may be, life is about letting yourself come to grips with those BIG ideas and thoughts. Overcoming that barrier which we put in front of ourselves daily. It's about learning and growing. And all of this starts with just one little seed that can change everything. A thought.

People.

New people. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Big, small, short, fat, funny, quiet, loud. It's always interesting and exciting to meet someone new. It is a fresh start on both sides. A chance to be your best (or worst) self. What would it be like if we never saw the same people more than just a few times? Would it solve many of life's problems? Never having to deal with the same person twice? Hmmm, just a random thought. But then, new people are only NEW for a day. After that, they are just the same as everyone else. Just people. No one would get the chance to be who they are really are and get to know anyone too personally. Things would be different in so many ways. Both good and bad. So it's almost weird to think about. How we are all new and exciting people to someone else. Just for a day.
